Knowledge of neuroplasticity and the effect that therapy has on neurologic recovery is rapidly evolving, but the traditional healthcare models generally don't reflect this change. Physical therapists and occupational therapists onceoccupied a role of offering only compensatory based trainingfor patients, but with advancements in high intensity and aerobic training, we are learning that therapy is, in fact, the primary means of driving neurologic recovery. This course will highlight advancements in neuroplasticity and the integral role that physical and occupational therapists play in promoting recovery for their patients. Attendees will gain knowledge and empowerment to expand the way they approach their patients and our role in rehabilitation.
