Additional Information

Children with moderate to severe neuromotor impairment benefit from hands-on treatment to improve therapeutic outcomes. It is imperative for a therapist to have and utilize the proper tools to improve postural control as well asmovement disorders for both typically and atypically developing children. The best practice in early intervention emphasizes use of therapeutic interventions that can be carried over in the natural environment. Additionally, carrying this knowledge to family and caregivers in handling techniques and therapeutic taping will continue to improve functional outcomes in the young child with neuromotor impairment.

In this course, participants will learn and practice techniques for facilitation of postural control and movement through developmental positions. Participants will also be empowered to implement kinesiology taping for the most common problems in the pediatric patient withneuromotor disorders such as truncal hypotonia, shoulder girdle instability, and extremity dysfunction. Participants will leave with practical and effective neurodevelopmental handling strategies and kinesiology taping skills they can integrate into their toolbox the next day to improve therapeutic outcomes.

The content of this program is germane to children, students and clients ages 0-6 years old.
