It is estimated that 15% of all public-school children in 2021 receive special education services. Many of them receive school based physical and occupational therapy services. The goal of therapy in the school setting is to promote increased student participation in all areas of the school environment. As therapists, we know it is imperative to provide effective, hands-on therapy services in the school setting to maximize a child's outcome, but we may be limitedby time, space, and resources.
This course will provide an in-depth look at effective school-based therapy services. This course will allow participants to learn how to maximize space and time, provide effective co-treatments, develop successful interventions toallow students to achieve their goals and maximize their functional potential within the school environment. Immediately after taking this course, therapists will feel more confident and comfortable writing practical IEP's, functional goals, and working with a variety of ages and diagnoses in the school setting.

the information is out of date. when presenting information about advancing school based therapists she should have to most current information for all disciplines.

some of the information was not based on best practice for school base therapists according to state and national guidelines. the course needed updated information for school base therapists practices

i wish we had not gone over basic info and i would have preferred more discussion amongst the therapists in the room. i learned a lot from what others discussed.

this course was informative, but really should be listed as a beginner course. the information would be great for an entry level therapist in the school system. however, if you had worked in this setting for a while the information was too easy.
