Parkinson's Disease: Moving Forward with a Guide to Understanding and Treatment

This course covers the fundamentals of Parkinson's Disease (PD), the underlying causes, environmental factors, disease progression, and how therapists can make an impact. Progressive neurological diseases are often overlooked by insurance companies because they believe there is no way to help the person. However, through research and practice, therapists have learned that PT, OT, and SLP alike can help to slow the progression of PD and provide improved quality of life for individuals who are impacted by this disease.

This course will provide the basics to refresh what Parkinson's Disease is and how it can present in individuals. It will then dive deep into what we can expect to see and how we can help with assessments, interventions, and education for not only the client but also the family and caregivers. You as the clinician will return to your practice with improved confidence in your understanding of Parkinson's as well as improving your creativity in interventions to address impairments.
