This current course will provide participants with an understanding of the nature of hoarding disorder with a look at both the psychological nature of hoarding behavior and its impact on physical health and functioning. Therapists will learn the importance of a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to managing this uniquely complex disorder. Through case study examples, therapists will develop an understanding of the need for a nuanced approach due to the emotional and physical barriers encountered by patients with hoarding behavior.

i am so glad someone finally talked about this home health challenge. when i first started, i took over a case where a pt used her own money and day off to help a patient clean up a hoarder house. the patient then falsely accused the therapist of stealing 3 old non working vacuums ( i had to show her that the vacuums were at the curb for trash pick up) and bedding that the pt had actually paid to be professionally cleaned ( i have more anecdotes to tell ). this shows the real risks and struggles we face. i appreciate you clarifying this situation and providing clear actionable steps.
