Within the aging population there are many health-related issues that affect women. Many of these could possibly be minimized or prevented with the right interventions. If we as clinicians can provide education and interventions to patients, friends and caregivers regarding these issues, we can improve the quality of life in this population of aging adults.
This course will provide an in-depth education on varioushealth-related issues including osteoporosis, fractures, falls, incontinence, heart disease, depression, Alzheimer's Disease, and more that are prevalent in aging women. This course willlook at the lifespan of a woman and how various physical/hormonal changes, emotional aspects, and stages of life (pregnancy, being a caregiver, menopause) can greatly affect health and the aging experience. After this course clinicians will be well-equipped to address issues in aging women with various interventions, exercises, and education.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers

the instructor was unsure about her topic, had difficulty answering questions, read through most of it sometimes skipping over sections seemingly because she could not explain them

felt like the time spent on menopause was scant considering the certianty of encountering it. also wished for more information on peri-menopause and effects on our patients. i liked the education for during pregnancy, but felt postpartum care was lacking - especially for women's common poor retraining and recruitment of core muscles. enjoyed case studies
