According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of Occupational Therapy Practitioners is projected to grow 14% from 2021 to 2031. With an estimated, 175,000 OT practitioners currently nationwide it is extremely important as a profession, clinicians remain knowledgeable about the regulatory requirements that impact practice at both a state and national level. Occupational therapy practitioners provide services in a wide range of settings as well as, serves clients across the lifespan. At a bare minimum, all OT practitioners require a license to practice within their state and must meet licensure continuing education requirements to maintain their license. There are additional specialty certifications for the advanced practitioner that are recommended but, are not required. Depending on the setting, the OT practitioner is employed in, it also recommended that the practitioner familiarize themselves with reimbursement policies and documentation guidelines.
This course Florida Laws and Rules for Occupational Therapy – What the Occupational Therapy Practitioner Needs to Know will not only explore the expectations of an Occupational Therapy Practitioner as guided by the national professional associations but, will review laws andrules as it relates specifically to occupational therapy clinicians practicing in the State of Florida.
