Chronic joint arthritic pain and tendinosis are on the rise with baby boomers and our aging population. More than 30 million people in the US suffer with joint arthritis and it is estimated to double by 2025. Over 1 million joint replacement surgeries are performed annually and are estimated to increase to 3.5 million by 2030 – a 673% increase. Among these patients, 25% report on-going pain after the joint surgery. Progressive and non-surgical options may be an alternative. Policy makers are requiring more non-surgical interventions to be performed before approval of surgery. Learn how to add life to your patient’s years not years to their life. The current system of healthcare for treatment of joint pain and arthritis has not changed in decades. Conventional “treatments” such as NSAID andopioid medications are wrought with side effects. Cortisone injections fail to produce long-term results – and accelerate the degenerative process.
Healthcare will be forced to evolve as current treatmentsare not able to keep pace with a growing, aging, and active population. Therapists are educators when it comes to patient options to surgery. Baby boomers and the activeaging population are demanding alternatives to opioid and corticosteroids and regenerative injections offer a considerable option to regain function without surgery.Progressive and practical non-surgical options should be thestandard of care. This workshop will educate clinicians on use of stem cell and regenerative injections, and rehabilitation options before and after the injections.
