Additional Information

Variations of manual therapy have been used for centuries, and rehab professionals use it daily to help their clients decrease pain, increase ROM, and improve function. Manual therapy has been shown to provide a variety of benefits other than the traditionally understood biomechanical effects, though these potential benefits are not often takeninto consideration clinically. Unfortunately, many rehab professionals are still relying on outdated theories and explanations when applying manual therapy and educating their clients on its benefits. In a world filled with pseudoscience and misleading claims, it is imperative that clinicians modernize their understanding and approach as they continue to utilize manual therapy to help their clients achieve optimal outcomes.

This demo-intensive workshop will focus on bringing clinicians into a modern understanding of the mechanisms and benefits of manual therapy. After a thorough evidence- informed update, participants will learn simple, yet effective manual techniques, primarily focusing on joint mobilizationsand manipulations of upper and lower extremities. Thesetechniques will be taught with an improved understanding of more of the potential benefits that occur when providing hands-on care. Participants will also integrate appropriate exercises that will help to reinforce the manual techniques by helping to reduce pain as well as optimize mobility andADL/functional improvement in every patient. The end-result is a clinician who is prepared to offer their patients improved treatment outcomes while maintaining the productivity standards in many of today's rehabilitation settings.

Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers
