Additional Information

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) states that supervision is an "integral part of the initial training of speech-language pathologists and audiologists, as well astheir continued professional development at all levels and in all work settings." As practicing Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), we are obligated to provide supervisionto graduate students and clinical fellows to educate and train the future of our field. Though this is a daunting task for many, it provides us with an opportunity to support and guide future SLPs through evidence-based means and activities. Through mentorship, we can enhance our own skills and knowledge, increase leadership skills, improve our overall patient care and delivery, and aid in the fulfillment of another individual's goals of becoming an SLP. This course will cover techniques and best practices for effective supervision, focusing on enhancing clinical outcomes, fosteringprofessional development, and promoting ethical practices. Participants will explore strategies for improvingcommunication with students and Clinical Fellows (CFs), for managing resources, and will develop a robust toolkit for addressing common supervisory challenges.

i love when courses have a powerpoint and the presenter offers more information than what is provided on the screen. i think this presentation offered thought provoking material about different learning styles and providing effective supervision for different styles and different conflicts.
