Age is the single most significant risk factor for developing cancer, with 60% of all newly diagnosed malignant tumors and 70% of all cancer deaths occurring in persons 65 years or older (Korc-Grodzicki & Tew, 2017). Increased survival, along with a rise in new diagnoses of cancer among older adults, makes geriatric cancer patients the largest proportion of the population of cancer survivors in the United States (Extermann, 2020). Therefore, clinicians working with the older adult population are charged with understanding cancertreatment paired with the unique needs of the aging individual. This course will improve your understanding of these distinct rehabilitation needs of the older adult with cancer to enable you to provide effective treatment options to enhance overall quality of life in your daily practice.

this was a terrible course, a complete waste of money. it was all very general, common-sense information, with nothing new to add to the topic of geriatric oncology. there were no specific exercise ideas or treatment guidelines for age-appropriate\/safe\/effective treatment other than the acsm general exercise recommendations. from a pt perspective, very disappointing.

it is a well needed subject to be researched and learned about to expand our knowledge as professionals to treat pt.'s who have had or are going thru ca treatments.

great course and presentation! if this is re-recorded in the future, i would recommend using enhanced audio recording devices (if possible). it can improve the experience if it feels (sounds) like the speaker is speaking in front of you and not from the other side of the room.

i really like how this course also touched on how much the caregiver is present and can get burnout if not careful.

i think it would have been good to see the different assessments and how they tie in to the pt\/ot initial eval process in an acute care setting with patients who are newly diagnosed with cancer (because of the interdisciplinary approach - would it be up to pt\/ot%3f primary team%3f slp%3f etc).
