Kids love the water. In fact, families who have children with disabilities identify swimming as their most popular physical activity and overall favorite activity. Water-basedintervention is a great way to bring fun to therapy while targeting skills such as bilateral coordination, strength, sensory modulation, and motor planning skills. Not only that, but aquatic therapy can help build essential water safety skills to prevent drowning. Did you know that drowning is one of the top causes of accidental death in children? Aquatictherapy can provide a protective mechanism while at thesame time improving motor coordination and strength.
This course will teach proven swim techniques so you willbe able to confidently treat children with autism and other developmental disabilities in the aquatic environment. You can play a key role in developing a child's proficiency in this beloved leisure activity while also boosting their ability to achieve traditional therapeutic goals. No swim experience required! Get ready to go into the pool tomorrow and have some fun with a whole new set of interventiontechniques.
