Additional Information

Over the last decade incorporating functional tasks into rehabilitation sessions has been deemed best practice. Current evidence strongly demonstrates that patients participating in functional tasks are more engaged and demonstrate larger functional gains. There is a strong link in current evidence amongst functional task participation and functional independence. This course will highlight current evidence confirming the need for functional tasks in occupational, physical, and speech therapy sessions. Examples of functional tasks for all patient diagnoses will be provided. Participants will leave with a toolbox of functional tasks to readily incorporate into therapy sessions.

Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Speech-Language Pathologists

i love the "real world" approach having ot %26 st involved in drug %26 alcohol rehab programs would be an excellent way for those pts to learn\/relearn all the "real life" skills that they stopped learning\/doing at whatever age they became so involved w\/drugs (especially) %26 alcohol %26 became non-functional in "real life" activities. this would be a way for centers to be able to justify to insurance companies why someone needs to stay longer %26 the insurance company should continue to pay for it. most drug addicts never learned how to do a resume, apply for a job, the skills needed to keep a job, how to open a bank acct, how to budget, how to pay their bills on time, etc, etc, etc. they need all these skills to be able to function in the "real world" %26, without them, they will probably go back to using drugs\/alcohol because that's all they know %26 it's too scary\/unknown how to do the "normal" stuff.

it would have been helpful if she pulled up a few of the tests\/questionnaires she mentioned and discussed them with more detail. she did mention reimbursement a lot!
