Using yoga in the geriatric setting is a promising approach to enhancing overall well-being among older adults. Incorporating yoga into geriatric settings can be a valuablestrategy to augment the health and well-being of older adults. With proper guidance and modifications, yoga can provide a safe and effective means to advance physical and mental health in this population. This course will offer instruction on how to take 10 yoga poses (asanas) and offer modifications using props to aid in: improving flexibility and strength, postural control, breathing techniques, anxiety management, mindfulness and internal focus, social interaction, offering a safe environment, adaptability, holistic approach, and research support.
Yoga approaches can be tailored and applied in individual and group treatment sessions depending on the demands of our patients. Whether the treatments occur in supine, seated, or standing postures, all patients can benefit from the poses and accompanying breathing patterns to bring awareness to self and environment. By the end of this course, you will be able to take these poses and have several ways to modify all to be specifically tailored to the needs of their patients, regardless of the clinical setting.
Target Audience: Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers

if this had been the 1st summit course i had taken, i would never take another course from summit. the 1st course i took from summit had an incredibly knowledgeable instructor who teaches minute details to enhance our practice, had two professional cameras and angles, and was a filming of an actual course with students the instructor could perform demonstrations on, which was very valuable. this was just a zoom meeting and the angles of visuals weren't great. she provided incorrect information, such as saying cow pose was done on an exhale and cat was an inhale. she did end up googling things throughout the course when she knew she was wrong or when participants in the live class told her it was wrong in the chat box, so at least she redacted her previous info given. i understand that people make mistakes but if she's a certified yoga instructor, that info would've been intuitive. she also couldn't come up with her own verbiage on how to explain or teach patients ujjayi pranayama and what constricting the back of the throat means without examples from google or the participants in the chat box. i also disagreed with some of the muscles she said were being strengthened when they were actually being stretched. i was really looking forward to additional information or impactful cueing for students in my yoga classes or patients just to keep it fresh for me but unfortunately i didn't learn a single new thing. that's a lot of money not to learn anything new.

too much down time between reading the question and trying to figure out a good camera shot. could have been completed in less time.

this lady is not a very good teacher%3b this course was painful to watch at times. i am sure she is a nice person and a good therapist, but she should probably stick to treating patients.

utilizing another person to control camera- would have been beneficial to zoom in\/out to maximize capturing positions. mirror at end was a great idea, but secondary camera person throughout would have been ideal.
