As shoulder arthroplasty continues to rise worldwide, rehabilitation professionals must be prepared to deliver care that is both evidence-based and individualized. In particular, Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty (rTSA) has surpassed anatomic total shoulder replacement in frequency and now accounts for approximately 60-70% of all shoulder replacements in the United States, with an estimated 60,000 -80,000+ procedures performed annually. Growth rates over the past decade have exceeded 10-15% per year with rTSArepresenting the majority of shoulder replacements in adultsover age 65.
This course is designed for physical and occupational therapists seeking to move beyond memorized protocols and develop a deeper understanding of the whybehind post-operative precautions and progression.Participants will learn the critical anatomical and biomechanical implications that directly impact rehabilitation decision-making. By the end of this course, attendees will be equipped to confidently individualize treatment plans, progress patients safely, and optimize functional outcomes following rTSA.
