Additional Information

Sarcopenia affects between 8 and 50% of adults over age 55 throughout North America. It is annually responsible for a $19 billion burden on the healthcare industry. However, recent surveys reveal that the lay public and even healthcare practitioners are rather unfamiliar with the condition and its effects on the human body. This course will define and investigate the causes of sarcopenia. Participants will alsolearn how to screen for and treat sarcopenia. To further influence our community's health and wellness, participants will also learn how to prevent sarcopenia, reducing its impact on the economy and our healthcare system.
